New 1Eighty Design Website Launched

Tuesday, May 21, 2013

We are very excited about the launch of our new website!  We really hadn’t changed the design in almost 4 years so it was time for something new.

We wanted to have something new visually but more than that we wanted a responsive design that would work on all devices.  Our past site had a regular version and a mobile version.  The mobile version simply showed our phone number and listed the services we offered. The user could then click on a button to view our full website that was scrunched to show on the tiny screen.

There is no longer a reason to maintain two website designs. Using CSS we can now adjust the design based on your screen resolution. If you look at the image below you can see the full website on the left and a mobile version on the right. The menu automatically collapses and a quick “Call Now” button appears.

Responsive Web Design - Standard vs Mobile

Larger Graphics

The old design really wouldn’t allow us to show our print work very well.  The image showing our work had to be a certain size and shape which really wasn’t conducive to print work.  The new site allows us to post as many graphics of any size we want for each of our projects.  We now have all of our most recent print design clients on the website.

Combined Sites

In an effort to help increase SEO we purchased several years ago.  Late last year we developed a WordPress blog to host at that location.  While our intentions were good, we never took the time to post new articles there.  It is hard enough to blog on one site let alone 2, so we imported the posts from the Warsaw Web Design site into our company blog.

Updated WordPress

The new blog is setup and ready to go when WordPress 3.6 is launched.  The new blog also utilizes the same responsive web design of the main website.  WordPress 3.6 has many new features such as post formats that we will be taking advantage of.

New Commenting

We moved from Facebook Comments to Disqus.  Not that we get a ton of comments on our blog but Disqus seems to be a better option for getting notifications when someone does post to the site.  They really do a good job making the commenting interface meld with the rest of the website.
